About Us

First established in 2004, West Kent Debt Advice (‘WKDA’) is an independent local charity with its own board of trustees which exists to support the provision of debt and money advice in the West Kent area and beyond. Today, WKDA fulfils its mission in partnership with Crosslight Advice, through our support of the Crosslight branches in West Kent. This partnership approach enables funds and resources to be deployed locally with local insight, whilst benefiting from a strong, unified service delivery infrastructure, pooled resources, and shared central expertise.

Raising Funds

WKDA is responsible for most of the direct operating costs of Crosslight’s West Kent Branches, raising funds from local donors and grant making bodies.

Employing Staff

WKDA employs the local staff team including the West Kent Branch Manager, who provide advice as agents of Crosslight and are managed day-to-day by the wider Crosslight staff family.

Serving our community

WKDA’s locally-based trustees help ensure that Crosslight in West Kent is rooted in and representative of the local community we serve.

Trustees

Paul Crouch

Paul is the Chairman of WKDA and a Trustee of Crosslight Advice, these are both voluntary positions - as is being a part time (qualified) debt advisor. Paul is a Chartered Engineer and Management Accountant and is a Director at BT.

HELEN ADAM

Helen is a solicitor and family mediator, and chair of the Family Solutions Group. Former charitable trusteeships have included a national charity for the homeless (Crisis) and a local charity for street sex workers in South London.

Janene Hosier

Janene studied at Pretoria University and worked for the Legal department of a Corporate Bank in Johannesburg, South Africa. She now lives in the UK with her husband and child.

Michael O'Driscoll

Mike serves as a trustee of WKDA and is also the volunteer Branch Manager of Crosslight Tunbridge Wells. He is semi retired having held senior board positions on quoted and private UK and US companies in both executive and non executive director roles

Ben spring

Ben is the treasurer of WKDA, working closely with the board to manage and report on the organisation's finances. He works as an accountant at Charities Aid Foundation (CAF) and serves on the leadership team at Tonbridge Baptist Church.
