REMOVE THE ANCHOR OF DEBT BY PAYING A CLIENT'S BANKRUPTCY OR DRO FEE

Applying for and getting Bankruptcies and Debt Relief Orders cost money, and the majority of our clients are not in the position to cover this cost. Paying this fee is what stands in the way of someone drowning in debt or being able to breathe again. Maria shares what Bankruptcy did for her and her life.

When I went to my appointment, I broke down. The stress I had been carrying every day, debt really is such a heavy burden to carry. Everything is coloured by it. It felt like I was in jail. Through the kindness of Crosslight and their expertise, and logical approach, they helped guide me through how to get out of this situation. It took a long time to get to the point where I realised that the only option for me was to file for bankruptcy. It was always a very scary concept for me as I didn’t understand it. It took a lot for me to get to that point, but Crosslight never forced anything and just guided me, showing me the options.   

I was able to apply for bankruptcy. The problem was that the bankruptcy itself cost £680, which was way beyond any money I had. I will be forever grateful to Crosslight as they were able to raise this money for me through Acts 435 to cover the cost.

For all the time I was struggling in debt, I couldn’t seem to make my life work. Debt was an anchor that held me down under the water, I was drowning. It’s all very physical. When you clear that anchor, you can swim to the surface and breathe again. This means that other things can happen, life can happen. Within the space of a week of the bankruptcy interview, I managed to get a full-time job. It was amazing to me to realise that the debt door had closed, and another door had opened. I don’t think it would have happened if I had not gone through the bankruptcy, it had to happen in that way. I wish that I could tell the world about Crosslight because they are amazing.
